MLTI Private Limited (Moonlight Tube Industries) is one of the most trusted Hastelloy heat exchanger manufacturers, suppliers, and exporters based in Gujarat, India, for heat-transfer duty in media that attack austenitic and duplex stainless steel. The grade we hold for this service is Hastelloy C276, designated UNS N10276 and W.Nr. 2.4819. Seamless tube is certified to ASTM B622 / ASME SB-622, the specification for seamless nickel and nickel-cobalt alloy pipe and tube, and welded tube to ASTM B626 / ASME SB-626. Nickel forms the balance of the alloy, alongside 15.0 to 17.0% molybdenum, 14.5 to 16.5% chromium, and 3.0 to 4.5% tungsten, with carbon held to 0.010% maximum.

Certified minima are the same on both routes: 690 MPa tensile, 283 MPa yield at 0.2% offset and 40% elongation in the annealed condition. Our envelope covers 12.7 mm to 88.9 mm outside diameter in six SWG sizes, giving walls of 1.016 mm to 3.251 mm. SB-622 caps tube at 88.9 mm outside diameter; wall thickness is specified on order. A larger tube is supplied to the agreed dimensions. Wet chlorine, hypochlorite liquor, ferric chloride, and streams that alternate between oxidising and reducing acids justify the metre rate. Reactor condensers, desulphurisation reheaters and acid coolers are the usual installations. We hold ISO 14001 and 45001 certifications, supplying each lot with an EN 10204 3.1 certificate, PMI, and precise dimensional checks.

Hastelloy heat exchanger tubes are available in several forms, each suited to specific pressure, temperature, corrosion, and heat-transfer requirements.

Seamless Hastelloy tubes are manufactured without a longitudinal weld, providing uniform construction and reliable pressure performance. They are commonly selected for demanding heat exchanger applications involving high temperatures, corrosive chemicals, and elevated pressure conditions.

Hastelloy welded tube is made by welding together strip or plate material at a longitudinal seam. They have dimensional flexibility and can be economical for larger sizes, provided the welding procedures and inspection are adequate to the service conditions.

Hastelloy U-tubes are bent into a U-shape, allowing thermal expansion without imposing excessive stress on tube sheets. They are particularly suitable for heat exchangers experiencing substantial temperature differences and cyclic thermal expansion.

Hastelloy finned tubes are fitted with external fins to increase the available heat transfer surface without significantly increasing the size of the exchanger. They are useful where heat is transferred between the fluid inside the tubes and an outside gas or air stream.

Straight Hastelloy tubes connect the tube sheets and are readily accessible for inspection, cleaning and maintenance. Suitable for heat exchangers with fouling fluids and where mechanical or chemical cleaning of tubes may be required.

Coiled Hastelloy tubes are formed into helical or spiral configurations, providing extended tube length within a compact footprint. Their corrosion resistance and space-efficient geometry make them suitable for compact heat exchangers and specialised process heating or cooling systems.
Bundle geometry starts with the outside diameter. Ten nominal sizes make up the range, each listed against its outside diameter in millimetres in the table below.
| Nominal Size | Outside Diameter (mm) |
|---|---|
| 1/2" | 12.7 |
| 5/8" | 15.875 |
| 3/4" | 19.05 |
| 1" | 25.4 |
| 1 1/4" | 31.75 |
| 1 1/2" | 38.1 |
| 2" | 50.8 |
| 2 1/2" | 63.5 |
| 3" | 76.2 |
| 3 1/2" | 88.9 |
The wall is ordered by Standard Wire Gauge, and six gauges cover every outside diameter above. The millimetre equivalent for each gauge is given in the second table below.
| SWG Gauge | Wall Thickness (mm) |
|---|---|
| 10 SWG | 3.251 |
| 12 SWG | 2.642 |
| 14 SWG | 2.032 |
| 16 SWG | 1.626 |
| 18 SWG | 1.219 |
| 19 SWG | 1.016 |
The heat exchanger tube is conventionally called out in Birmingham Wire Gauge. A BWG number does not convert exactly to an SWG wall, so we confirm the equivalent before quoting. We don't supply diameters below 12.7 mm. Both ASTM B622 and ASTM B626 cap tube at 88.9 mm outside diameter, so anything larger is supplied to agreed dimensions rather than certified to a size scope. As a Hastelloy heat exchanger tubes stockist, we carry part of this range ready, with the rest procured against the order.
Five sectors use most of the tubes we supply to Hastelloy tube heat exchangers. Each carries a stream that pits or crevice-attacks stainless steel.

Reactor condensers and vent condensers on halide-catalysed batch chemistry run C276 tube. Hydrochloric acid released during the reaction concentrates in the condensate film, and the tube wall meets it at the dilution where it does the most damage.

Pharmaceutical plant works small batches at high product value, so a leaking tube costs the batch as well as the bundle. Hastelloy C276 heat exchanger tubes go into solvent recovery condensers and reactor coolers, where trace metal ingress is unacceptable.

Reheaters and gas-gas heat exchangers downstream of an absorber operate below the acid dew point. Condensate forming on those surfaces is dilute hydrochloric and sulphuric acid carrying chlorides, and the C276 tube is the established material for cold-end rows.

Acid coolers, dilution coolers and circulation exchangers handle both acids across the concentration range. Hastelloy condenser tubes and cooler bundles are ordered here because the alloy resists dilute hydrochloric acid without surrendering its cover on the oxidising side.

Chlorine dioxide and hypochlorite liquors are heated in the bleach plant, and the tube surface stays wetted with active chlorine. Liquor heaters and filtrate coolers in the D and H stages take alloy C276 tubes.
Crevice attack under a deposit ends more alloy bundles than general corrosion of a clean surface. C276 tolerates the low pH that develops inside an occluded crevice, which separates it from 904L and duplex in identical service.
Grade is confirmed by positive material identification on every lot. Dimensional inspection covers outside diameter, wall and straightness, and the EN 10204 3.1 certificate states the heat number for the lot.
Our specialised packaging and shipping protocols ensure structural protection and flexible logistics management for high-value Hastelloy heat exchanger tubes.
Buyers return to Moonlight Tubes for certified material, approved grades and stock that ships on schedule. Every order is backed by documented quality, a wide size range and delivery commitments we hold to.
Hastelloy heat exchanger tubes are used for reactor and vent condensers, acid coolers, desulphurisation reheaters and bleach liquor heaters, wherever chlorides or mixed acids reach the tube surface.
Seamless tube is supplied to ASTM B622 / ASME SB-622 and welded tube to ASTM B626 / ASME SB-626, the specifications for seamless and welded nickel and nickel-cobalt alloy tube. General requirements follow ASTM B829 and B751.
Yes. Both routes are supplied. Seamless is the more common callout on acid duty. Welded tube to B626 costs less per metre at equal gauge, and the specification caps it at 88.9 mm outside diameter.
Ten outside diameters between 12.7 mm and 88.9 mm are available, each in six gauges running from 19 SWG (1.016 mm) up to 10 SWG (3.251 mm). Lengths are cut to the bundle drawing.
Hastelloy tubing is a nickel-molybdenum-chromium alloy tube made to the B-series nickel alloy specifications. Inside a shell-and-tube exchanger, the tube carries the corrosive stream, while the shell uses cost-efficient material.
Yes. Hastelloy C276 outperforms stainless steel in chloride-bearing and mixed-acid streams, where 316L and duplex suffer pit and crevice attack under deposits. On clean cooling water or steam, a stainless tube gives the same heat transfer at a far lower cost.
