304L Seamless Tube
Seamless 304L stainless steel tubing starts as a pierced hollow and finishes cold drawn, so no longitudinal weld runs through the wall. ASTM A213 / ASME SA-213 governs the route and names heat-exchanger duty in its title.

MLTI Private Limited (Moonlight Tube Industries) has been a reliable 304L stainless steel tube manufacturer, supplier and exporter in Gujarat, India, since 2008. We have an annual capacity of roughly 8,000 MT a year. Stainless steel 304L tube is the low-carbon member of the 18/8 austenitic family, registered as UNS S30403 on the ordering specification. Carbon is held to 0.035% maximum under ASTM A213 / ASME SA-213 and to 0.030% maximum under ASTM A249 / ASME SA-249. That ceiling keeps chromium in solid solution through a weld thermal cycle. Chromium runs 18.0 to 20.0% and nickel 8.0 to 12.0%.

Certified minima in the solution-treated condition are 485 MPa (70 ksi) tensile strength, 170 MPa (25 ksi) yield strength and 35% elongation, with hardness capped at 90 HRB. Continental documents name the same material 1.4306 and Japanese ones SUS 304L. We draw seamless 304L tubes, pierced from a solid billet and finished without a longitudinal weld to handle high pressure, to ASTM A213 / ASME SA-213. We also produce welded TP304L tubes, which are formed from flat strips and seam-fused for tighter tolerances, to ASTM A249 / ASME SA-249. Round tube spans 12.7 mm to 101.6 mm outside diameter on walls of 0.71 mm to 3.2 mm, cut to length in house. Chemical circuits and dairy runs take most of this output. Our company holds ISO 14001 and 45001 certifications with BIS, EIL, IBR, PED 2014/68/EU and AD 2000-Merkblatt W0 approval. Every consignment ships against a mill test certificate.

SS 304L tube is supplied in two construction routes and three sections: seamless to ASTM A213/ASME SA-213, welded and ERW to ASTM A249/ASME SA-249, in round, square and rectangular profiles.

Seamless 304L stainless steel tubing starts as a pierced hollow and finishes cold drawn, so no longitudinal weld runs through the wall. ASTM A213 / ASME SA-213 governs the route and names heat-exchanger duty in its title.

Slit strip is the starting stock for welded construction, joined by electric resistance welding and solution treated to ASTM A249 / ASME SA-249. ERW 304L tube costs less per metre than drawn material, and a cold-redrawn pass tightens the dimensions.

Round is the highest-volume profile, rolled across eleven diameters between 12.7 mm and 101.6 mm. Instrumentation and exchanger runs both draw on stainless steel 304L tube.

Square box section runs 12 x 12 mm through 100 x 100 mm on walls of 1.0 mm to 6.0 mm, welded to ASTM A554. Handrails and equipment frames take 304L square tube.

Rectangular section covers 13 x 25 mm to 100 x 50 mm at the same wall range, in lengths to 12 metres. Fabricators specify 304L rectangular tube for members that carry load about one axis.
The SS 304L tube size chart lists common tube diameters with different BWG wall thicknesses and corresponding weights per metre.

Six sectors take most of the stainless steel 304L tubes, with the equipment each one specifies named below.

Acid service is where UNS S30403 tube earns its place: dilute nitric, phosphoric and organic duty. Welded reactor coils and dosing lines are its usual positions, and the assembly goes into service unannealed.

Milk transfer lines and brewery circuits are built from 304L tube because the wall tolerates repeated clean-in-place cycles with caustic and acid detergents.

Stock preparation lines, white water headers and vacuum piping run 304L tube on the non-bleach side of the mill. Long site-welded runs hold up because the low carbon keeps sensitisation in check.

Shell-and-tube exchangers take 304L tube on the tube side to ASTM A213 or ASTM A249. Thin walls move heat efficiently, and the metal survives tubesheet welding.

Feedwater heaters, auxiliary cooling circuits and condenser air-removal lines run 304L tube below the creep range. Plant builders favour it where welded attachments are numerous.

Aeration headers and sludge handling circuits use 304L stainless steel tubes against mildly aggressive process water. Site-welded joints hold up without heat treatment.
Chromium carbide precipitation at the grain boundaries is what a welder risks in an unstabilised 18/8 analysis. Carbide forms in the 425 °C to 815 °C band. The chromium-depleted metal beside it then corrodes intergranularly, and carbon that isn't present cannot feed that reaction. ASTM A213 / ASME SA-213 requires only solution treatment at 1040 °C minimum followed by rapid cooling for SS 304L; no stress-relieved or subcritical annealed condition is specified for the grade.
The shipping and packaging of ASTM A213 TP304L tubes have been given below.
Stainless steel 304L tube price in India ranges from ₹250 – ₹320 per kg and $3.00 – $3.90. Nickel input costs move week to week. Seven variables set it: outside diameter, wall gauge, section, route, length, finish and quantity.
Buyers return to Moonlight Tubes for certified material, approved grades and stock that ships on schedule. Every order is backed by documented quality, a wide size range and delivery commitments we hold to.
Seamless 304L tube ships to ASTM A213 / ASME SA-213 and welded tube to ASTM A249 / ASME SA-249. General-service SS 304L tube follows ASTM A269.
Round 304L tubing runs 12.7 mm to 101.6 mm outside diameter, on walls of 1.02 mm to 3.25 mm.
Carbon content separates the two grades. ASTM A213 permits 0.08% carbon in SS 304 against 0.035% in SS 304L, so 304L resists intergranular attack after welding. 304 in return certifies to 515 MPa tensile.
Both routes are in production here. Seamless tube is drawn to ASTM A213, and welded or ERW 304L tubing is rolled to ASTM A249.
Wall tolerance is set by the ordering specification. Tube ordered on minimum wall runs over nominal and never under (+20 %/−0 for cold-finished seamless up to 38.1 mm outside diameter, +22 %/−0 above that, and +18 %/−0 for welded tube) while tube ordered on average wall is held to ±10 %.
A post-weld solution anneal is not required in most service. The 0.035% carbon ceiling suppresses carbide precipitation, so the heat-affected zone doesn't sensitise.
Square and rectangular 304L tubes are supplied to ASTM A554, from 12 x 12 mm square up to 100 x 50 mm rectangular.
Price ranges from ₹250 – ₹320 per kg and $3.00 – $3.90 per kilogram against the day's nickel rate rather than as a fixed list. Diameter and wall gauge move it most.
Sustained service is normally held to 425 °C, above which the low-carbon analysis carries less creep strength and a stabilised grade is specified.
